Memoryhouse - The Years

Arcade Sound Ltd. has recently made Memoryhouse’s digital EP The Years available to download. Memoryhouse is another band that I think will be, if it isn’t already, called “chillwave,” but in their case I have a little less difficulty using the term. It is a very chilly release, at least superficially, and what’s more superficial than a one-word encapsulation of a type of music (that isn’t either “good” or “bad”)? The band is from Ontario, the cover for the single is blue-gray-white, and the music proceeds at a relatively gentle pace, so it’s a little more difficult to take issue with the description. Having said that, the music is far from boring, and for all it’s lowspeed charm, it’s the effective balance of drone, reverb, and beat within that pacing that distinguishes The Years.

Here’s an mp3 from the EP and a video for another song, also featured on The Years.
